Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament

Big Ben was opened in 1859 and weighs 13,5 tons . Big Ben is the biggest of the five bells in the tower . A famous sound from the song "Messias" start every hour . The offical name of Big Ben is „ St. Stephen's Tower“ . The Clock Tower was built in the Gothic style and is the biggest clock in Great Britian . The clock is corrected by the hands of the mechanic. The tower is 96,3 metres high. There are a lot of postcards about the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben . It's a famous tourist attraction.People from Europe can't vist Big Ben ,only people from Great Britain . Some tourists must wait 4-6 months for a sit in the Houses of Parliament. The Houses of Parliament and Big Ben shine gold at night. Four mechanics repair the bell tower 24 hours a day. Big Ben stopped only four times in 150 years. In the 17th century the Houses of Parliaments were the second home of some Lords. Between 1840 and 1888, Sir Charles Barry rebuilt the Palace of Westminster and also added the famous clock tower that everybody knows as Big Ben. Today 92 Lords help in the politics.
